The Carlsbad Unified School District is seeking B License Contractors interested in prequalifying for construction contracts valued at more than $500,000 for the District's Proposition P Construction Bond Program, commencing 2012.

Prequalification of Prospective Bidders: The District has determined that contractors who wish to submit bids for construction contracts valued at more than $500,000 must be prequalified.

General Description of Work: The District's Proposition P Construction Bond Program is comprised of approximately three modernization projects at Carlsbad High School.

Procedures: Download the Prequalification Application from the CUSD Prop P web site: http://www.carlsbadusd.k12.ca.us/PropP/Prequalification.html. Complete the document and send with all required attachments to CUSD, 6225 El Camino Real, Carlsbad, CA 92009, Attn: Michelle Johnson, Director of Purchasing. For answers to questions please call 760-331-5005. Prequalification Applications must be delivered to the District office by May 14, 2012 at 2PM.

Prequalification Criteria/Evaluation: Prequalification of prospective contractors will be determined by the application of a pre-established qualifying system. The evaluation is solely for the purpose of determining, in a timely manner, contractors who are deemed qualified for successful performance of the type of work included in this Program. The contracts will be awarded to the prequalified contractors submitting the lowest responsive and responsible bids. The District reserves the right to reject any or all responses to Prequalification Questionnaires and to waive non-material irregularities in any response or bid received.

Contractor's License: Contractor must possess a valid contractor "B" license from the California Contractors State License Board to apply for prequalification. Contractor's license must be current, at the time of the bid, for each project being bid by the contractor. Also, Contractor must obtain a City of Carlsbad Business license.

Labor Compliance: The District operates a Labor Compliance Program on Prop P projects. Contractors must comply with all the applicable provisions of the District's Labor Compliance Program while accomplishing any work on the construction program.

Confidentiality: The names and contact information for all prequalified firms will be posted on the District Prop P web site. Beyond that, all information submitted for prequalification evaluation will be considered official information acquired in confidence and the District will maintain its confidentiality to the extent permitted by law.
