2011 Board Member Biographies:

Kelli Moors, President - Email

Kelli Moors was first elected to the board in 2000 and re-elected in 2004 and 2008. Her current term runs through 2012. She and her husband have been Carlsbad residents since 1982 and their daughter attended Magnolia, Valley, and Carlsbad High, graduating in 2007. Ms. Moors is an active member of the California School Boards Association (CSBA): she is a graduate of its Masters in Governance professional development program and serves on its statewide Educational Legal Alliance Advisory Committee. Ms. Moors serves as an elected member of the CSBA State Delegate Assembly and is the immediate-past president of the San Diego County School Boards Association (SDCSBA). She meets frequently with state and federal elected officials on behalf of the students of Carlsbad Unified. Ms. Moors represents the board on the California Association of Suburban School Districts (CALSSD) and the City of Carlsbad/CUSD Joint Issues Committee. She also serves on the advisory board of the Carlsbad Educational Foundation and is an annual participant in the City of Carlsbad/Junior Achievement City Stuff civic education program for Carlsbad's third grade students. Ms. Moors is proud to have been educated entirely in California's public schools, from kindergarten at Pacific Beach Elementary through college at San Diego State University. She is employed by Tri-City Medical Center as the Manager of Public Affairs and Marketing.

Mrs. Elisa Williamson, a 23-year Carlsbad resident, has served on the Board of Trustees since April 2000; her current term will expire in 2012. Her two children both graduated from CUSD; one teaches middle school and the other attends college. While serving as President of the Board, she spearheaded the development of a Governance Handbook and the District Vision Statement. She received "Masters in Governance" certification through the California School Boards Association. She earned a Master's Degree in Business Education from Brigham Young University and worked for several years as a communications specialist and part-time teacher. She is currently the Director of Marketing for a financial advisor.

Ann Tanner was elected to the Carlsbad Unified School District Board of Trustees in 2010. Born and raised in California, Ann is a product of the California public school system. She received a B.A. from Stanford University as a Canfield Scholar and a Masters of Science degree from Columbia University in New York City, graduating in the top 5% of her class. Ann is a psychotherapist, counselor and licensed clinical social worker with an expertise in chemical dependency, depression, parent coaching, disaster mental health and grief recovery. Currently, Ann is a Clinical Program Manager in Addiction Medicine. Ann works as a Critical Response Team member for Mass Casualties and a Disaster Mental Health Services volunteer for the American Red Cross. She is the mother of 5 children. Ann's vision for Carlsbad schools is to have all of Carlsbad's children thrive as engaged, resilient, learners.

Ms. Lisa Rodman was elected to the Board of Trustees in November 2002, re-elected in 2006, and 2010 to a term that runs through 2014. She has been an advocate for excellence in education since 1992. She began as a classroom volunteer and served on numerous executive boards in schools and in the community of Carlsbad. She has also trained in the District's "Lion's Quest" and Steven Covey's "The Seven Habits" programs. In the spring of 2006, she received her certification in the California School Boards Association's "Master in Governance" program. Ms. Rodman graduated from the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce's "Chamber University" in the fall of 2004. She has been an advocate for a second swim complex in Carlsbad since 1996, and anticipates the success of this commitment in 2011. Ms. Rodman holds an Associate Degree in Fashion Merchandising and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication from California State University, San Marcos. Ms. Rodman is currently the Executive Director at Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation. She is on the board of Hospice of the North Coast, Carlsbad Charitable Foundation and Hi-Noon Rotary of Carlsbad.

Jeremy Juybari, Student Representative to the Board of Trustees

Jeremy Juybari, a 12th grade student at Carlsbad High School, was appointed to the position of Student Representative to the Board of Trustees for the 2011-12 school year. He is excited to be able to give students a voice in decisions that affect them by being a liaison between the CHS student body and the Board of Trustees. Jeremy also is interested in politics and is anxious to see firsthand how government works on a local scale.

Jeremy has a rigorous class schedule at Carlsbad High School this year including English, Pre-Advanced Theater, Elementary Calculus, ASB (Student Government), Oral Interpret, and AP Economics.

Jeremy's interests include student government, the Adopt-A-Freshman Program, karate, Boy Scouts, backpacking, Venture Scouts, Varsity Speech and Debate, Philosophy Club, snowboarding, and theater.

After graduation, Jeremy plans to attend college and is looking forward to getting his B.A, M.B.A., and eventually his Ph.D.
