Carlsbad Unified Partners with Energy Star

Welcome to CUSD's Energy Conservation Program site! Thanks to the participation of all staff at every site and under the guidance of our Board-approved Energy Conservation Policy, the District is at the leading edge of conservation. We are one of only 60 public school districts in California to qualify as an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Energy StarĀ® Partner.

As of October 2010, in the 18 months since the energy conservation program's inception in March 2009, the District has saved $528,046, an overall decrease of 20%. This money can be redirected to education.

We have achieved this savings, and continue to save more energy and money, as a result of equipment changes coupled with behavioral modifications. District Superintendent John A. Roach, Ed.D, states, "We have a fundamental commitment to protect the environment through continuous improvement of our energy performance. An organization-wide approach enhances our financial health and aids in preserving the environment for future generations."

If you have any questions or energy-saving ideas, please contact Energy Conservation Manager Darin Vey at (760) 331-6916 or dvey@carlsbadusd.net. We welcome your comments and suggestions.
