CUSD College and Career Readiness Educational Opportunity Audit Report

New to CUSD

2012-13 Transfer Request Procedures

INTRA-district Transfers - NEW ONLY!

For first time INTRA-district Transfer Requests, the form will be available online or at School Sites January 9 – March 30 and are for those students who live INSIDE the CUSD boundaries wishing to attend a school other than their assigned neighborhood school. Kindergarten applications will be accepted following Kindergarten Roundup in May.

Applications for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program at Jefferson Elementary are on a "first-come" basis; applications for all students (including Kindergarten) will be accepted at Jefferson Elementary School starting January 9, 2012, during normal business hours. Alternatively, the online application link will be available on that date as well.  Jefferson is the only school that will be accepting new INTRA-district transfer applications for Kindergarten students before Kindergarten Roundup in May.

Kindergarten requests submitted before roundups for any school other than Jefferson will be removed from our database. Parents who submit applications too early will need to resubmit after Kindergarten Roundup.

Applicants will be notified no later than May 15, 2012.

INTRA-district Transfers - RENEWALS ONLY!

Due to changes in the state laws and District policies controlling INTRA-district transfer permits allowing children to transfer from the school of residence to a different school within the same school district, current INTRA-district and administrative transfer students do not have to re-apply for the 2012-2013 school year.  However, to plan teaching assignments and budgets for the coming school year, it is critical that we know whether students with an INTRA-district permit this year plan to return to the same school next year.

Therefore, we are asking parents to commit in advance to either returning to their current school or going back to the school of residence for the 2012-2013 school year.  In order to save paper and printing costs, the preferred method for parents to communicate their commitment for next year is by completing the online Continuation of INTRA-District Transfer Form.

INTER-district Transfers – RENEWALS ONLY!

New California laws and regulations have changed the way school districts handle applications for INTER-district transfer permits. Previously, students with approved INTER-district transfer permits were required to re-apply every year for the following school year. The application period ran from January through March.

This year, CUSD students who already hold an approved INTER-district transfer application for the 2011-2012 school year do not have to re-apply for the 2012-2013 school year.
